Anonymous asked: on evidence of the first few episodes, do you think "The Newsroom" is any good? or ultimately as sermonizing as the outlets (such as Fox) that sorkin et. al. evidently loathe
I just watched the entirety of the Newsroom recently, and Sorkin is definitely about that self-righteousness, but as a news junkie and a journalist who ultimately agrees that the mainstream media has gotten spineless and Fox News is one of the single worst things to ever happen to America, I feel the show. He can get preachy for sure, but I don’t really think what Fox does is sermonizing so much as called “consistently lying for the benefit of a political party.” MSNBC can be OD in a different way, but ultimately not destructive to its viewers—Maddow, Chris Hayes, etc, are pretty adult real-talk. Sorkin needs to fall back on the HIGHLY ANNOYING relationships, though, that last episode with the old-young analogous dysfunctional love was soooo wack and corny and felt shoehorned in. Allison Pill’s character annoys the fuck out of me, too, like, WRITE HER AT LEAST A LITTLE AGENCY, SORKIN! FOR CHRISSAKES MAN!
